Now the first step in jump-starting a car is to establish the condition of your car battery. The reason why you need to do this is because, your battery may not be dead and it may be some other problems which are causing the car not to start, so just turn on the ignition and check the sound which is emitted. If you hear nothing then it is likely your battery is dead, but if you hear the engine cranking, then your battery is fine. Jump-starting your car will not bring your car back to life if there are some other problems asides from the battery which are causing the problem.
Now after establishing that jump-starting your car is the right move to do. You can first begin by checking to see if you have jumper cables with you and another car. Ensure that both cars are turned off before the jump starting process.
The next step is very important. You must connect the red wire on the jumper cable to the positive terminal on the damaged battery, whilst doing the same with the other red wire on the other car battery. Repeat the same process with the red wires using the black wires on the negative terminals. The only difference this time is that instead of connecting the black wire to the negative terminal of the dead battery, you connect the black wire to a clean, unpainted metal surface under the stalled car’s hood. The area around the engine black would be an ideal spot. Do not under any circumstances connect the negative cable to the negative cable of the dead battery. You may cause sparks or even worse an explosion.
After that simply start the car which is doing the jumping and let it run for about 2 minutes before starting the dead car, after that remove the cables in reverse order and allow the now revived care to run for at least 30 minutes before driving it to allow the battery time to charge itself.
